Update June 13, 2005
Dear Friends and Family,
Long time no update. We have been in a bit of a tizzy since our trip to Austin. Kenny’s memorial service was very moving and our dear friend Roy Spence held a celebration of Kenny’s life afterwards. Lucinda is going to work very hard tomorrow on posting pictures from the Kenny weekend and John Tull’s birthday.
We have much to say about the direction of our lives, but for tonight we will be brief. You may want to hear the radio interview we taped with the BBC a few months ago. It will air on Wednesday June 15th at 9:00 P.M. UK time, but you should be able to hear it on the BBC site at that time and perhaps afterwards for a while.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, 9.00-9.30pm
New three-part series. Hermione Cockburn discovers three more microbes that rule the world. In November 2002, while on a business trip to New York, John Tull and Lucinda Marker were rushed to Beth Israel Hospital in Manhattan where they were diagnosed with bubonic plague and kept in isolation under tight security measures. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/
In the meantime, we love you all and thank you for still being here.

Update June 16, 2005
Dear Friends and Family,
The BBC did a great job of producing this radio programme on the plague. It aired yesterday, but will be available for re-play for a week. Just go to the site, click “listen again” and then look under “g” in the programme list for “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly”.

Dear Friends and Family,
John Tull is packing for his annual “fishing trip” in Colorado. He is being picked up once again by private aircraft (which makes him very happy) for an afternoon arrival for a weekend full of drinking, poker playing, joke telling and an occasional plop of a fishing line. It was two years ago on June 19 that he was released from the hospital. He was able to go on this trip last year, but this year he is in much better shape.
We had a great time last weekend seeing two old friends: Stuart Lautin, an old law partner of Tull’s from Dallas and Ariel Amir who worked with Lucinda at her former firm. We also want to mention that Meriwether Tull (our niece) graduated from Emory in May and Darla’s daughter (that would be Lucinda’s second cousin) graduated from high school in Ohio.
Kenny’s death had a rather profound effect on us both not only because he was such a good friend, but because we both got hit over the head with how lucky we are to still be here and what a fluke that really is. Having let those thoughts sink in for a while, we are moving full speed ahead with our remaining time on earth. One of Lucinda’s very serious goals is to shed these damn extra pounds that seemed to conglomerate around her waist and other less than desirable bodily targets in the last two years. Hopefully, with the help of Weight Watchers and the diet goddesses, soon enough there will be no more sotto voce utterances of “poor Lucinda, well you can see how it would happen after all she’s been through”. John Tull has a few goals as well, but we will leave those to another time.
Love to all and happy real beginning of The Summer of 2005!

Update June 30, 2005
Dear Friends and Family,
It is truly hard to believe that Tull and Marker first met 12 years ago this July 4th. It seems like a lifetime ago and then again like only yesterday. We were on a mountain biking/July 4th picnic in the Jemez mountains with a big group of mutual friends. Both of us were recent refugees from broken relationships. Fortunately for Tull (and probably not accidentally) he had his new puppy Tater who proved to be quite a chick magnet. J.T. had been up all night on his very first Search and Rescue mission and so was not 100% his usual charismatic self. Who knows where we might be today had it not been for cute Tater.
Work is tiring and Tull has been experiencing a bit of leg discomfort which we hope to get taken care of soon. We plan to lay low and socialize a bit this weekend. No doubt we will wander in to town for the annual Pancakes on the Plaza on the 4th.
Have a great weekend, handle fireworks carefully and wear your red, white and blue. (Happy Birthday to Cameron and Madame X!)
Love,
John and Lucinda
